Q.U.B.E. at the Tokyo Game Show 2011

Q.U.B.E. will be on display at the Tokyo Game Show 2011 from 15th to 18th September in the Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City).

Q.U.B.E. is also one of 9 games (out of 60 submitted) to be chosen to be presented at the ‘Sense of Wonder Night‘ (SOWN).

SOWN will be held on Friday, September 16 17:30-20:00 in Makuhari Messe – International Conference Hall, Room 201.


Q.U.B.E. in RockPaperShotgun

Dave Hall has been busy once again, this time being interviewed about Q.U.B.E. for and article in RockPaperShotgun.

In the interview Inside Q.U.B.E.: Toxic Games Interview Dave talks about how Toxic Games formed at the University of Wales, Newport, then goes into more depth about how they moved forward with development and obtaing funding from Indie Fund.

Q.U.B.E. at PAX

Dan Da Rocha from Toxic Games will be showcasing the latest build of Q.U.B.E. at PAX in Seattle from the 26th to 28th of August. Booth 6407.

Q.U.B.E. is also getting some great publicity after recently being shown at E3’s IndieCade, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWCDuyBshvs (from 4:30 to 5:30).


Q.U.B.E. makes it into Epic’s UDK Showcase.

Q.U.B.E. has been selected to appear on Epic Games’ UDK Showcase.

The Q.U.B.E. showcase entry gives more details of the upcoming game, and Dan Da Rocha talks about why they chose UDK to develop Q.U.B.E.

Dan Da Rocha and Jon Savery will be giving a session at the Develop Indie Dev Day

Dan Da Rocha and Jon Savery will be giving a lecture at the Develop Conference in Brighton, from 19-21 July 2011.

They will be talking about their third year project Q.U.B.E., starting up an indie studio, getting funding from the Indie Fund and taking the game into full development.

The talk From Student to Indie, will be taking place on 21st July, at 15:15, as part of Develop’s Indie Dev Day.


QUBE at E3!

Q.U.B.E. will be showing off their latest developments at E3 later this month (7 – 9 June).

Q.U.B.E. will be shown at the as part of the IndieCade’s International Festival of Independent Games at the IndieCade booth (West Exhibit Hall – 4300)

Q.U.B.E. will also be on show  at Joystiq’s E3 2011 Meetup Extravaganza on Friday, 10th June, in La Cita Bar downtown LA between 5:30 and 9:00PM PST.

Q.U.B.E the story so far

Newport alumni, Dan Da Rocha, Dave Hall and John Savery a.k.a. Toxic Games have been awarded significant funding by Indie Fund (http://indie-fund.com/) to continue the development and commercialisation of their game Q.U.B.E. They have been invited to the Independent Games Summit at GDC where the funding award was announced (http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/03/01/inside-the-indie-fund-a-better-deal-for-developers/).

Q.U.B.E. is a first person puzzle solving game where the player finds themselves set in an environment built from cubes. The objective is to explore the environment and complete challenging puzzles by manipulating coloured cubes using a special pair of gloves. The player can pull out red cubes, launch themselves using blue cubes, pull out multiple sets of yellow cubes and push around green cubes.

Q.U.B.E. was a finalist in the Indie Game Challenge  http://www.indiegamechallenge.com/finalists/qube/. Watch Dan talk about Q.U.B.E. and the IGC on G4TV (from about 25 minutes in).
